Hommage to the victims of the massacre at the Faculty of Philosophy
In the rainy noon of December 23, church bells rang for several minutes all over the Czech Republic. Then there should be a minute of silence, sales in shops, or the traffic at the Prague airport stopped. All this in honor of the victims of the deranged gunman in the main building of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University two days ago. This recording was made in Heroldovy sady, where you can usually hear only the bell from the Husits choir in Vršovice, the bells from St. Wenceslas on Čechovo náměstí, or from the Husite Church up in Vinohrady. Therefore I added some other fragments into the composition: for example the sound of bells from other places across Prague, which are usually not heard in Vršovice: Saint Ludmila on Náměstí Míru, Saint Vít at Hradčana Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Vyšehrad, Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, St. Charlemagne on Karlov and St. Ignatius of Loyola on Karlovo náměstí.
On December 21, 14 people, including the murder, died within a few minutes. Another twenty-five people were injured by the killer, some of them seriously.
The passing bells of all the recent massacre(s)... not only this one in Prague..but as well this one in Gaza.
