Zvuky Prahy / Sounds of Prague

For me the sound of a lawn mower evokes images of suburban idyll. In the urban environment such sounds always seem like an anomaly because one rarely sees grass or a maintained lawn except in the occasional park, and in urban areas it seems that maintaining grass requires greater maintenance, and the grass is often found in artificial patches of landscaping. Sometimes whole sections of grass are simply replaced each year, rolled out over the ground. The is a recording of a groundskeeper mowing an irregularly shaped section of grass between a busy road and an artificial pond at an industrial park. I sometimes find it strange how office workers will seize upon this small slice of artificial nature as tonic to the office environment.
