I find that sport facilities often have a unique ambiance, an almost instantly recognizable sonic signature resulting from the acoustics of such mid-size institutional spaces. These spaces are usually scattered throughout the city. The sounds of humans exerting themselves bounce off the concrete walls and institutional flooring of gymnasiums and swimming pools. In this recording of a squash court you can here the unmistakable squeak of sport shoe against floor, of balls bouncing and of someone catching their breath.
